JOHANNESBURG – A theatre production directed and produced by renowned South African musician Jonas Gwangwa will be showing for the first time in the country at the State Theatre.
The production, Amandla, retells South African history and culture.
The production looks at Umkhonto we Sizwe cadres who put down their weapons and took up protest using theatre while they were in exile.
The show weaves through South African history and culture, from pre-colonial times to the early days of Madiba.
The world protest theatre production has taken 25 years and 40 stages around the world to get home.
The production is running on Friday and Saturday with hopes of a national and international tour.
