KNYSNA - It's carnival time!

The Western Cape seaside town of Knysna received a fresh splash of pink this weekend as it hosts the annual Pink Loerie Mardi Gras and Mr Gay World finale.

The Mardi Gras, now in its 14th year, aims to showcase the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

And all the stops were also pulled out for Mr Gay World, now in it's 7th year, and second time ever being hosted in South Africa.

* Watch a report by Leigh-Anne Jansen in the gallery above on how the contestants are on a drive to educate the masses about the plight of the LGBTI community.
