JOHANNESBURG - Prison is not for the faint-hearted.

John Fredericks is proof of that - he survived gangsterism in Pollsmoor in the nineteen-sixties, going on to have a movie made about his experience, called "Noem my Skollie".

He's now published a book entitled "Skollie: One man's struggle to survive by telling stories."

Anchor Joanne Joseph spoke to him about his life journey, earlier in the week.
