CAPE TOWN - A new invention could help couples who are battling to conceive.

It's a lubricant that aids natural reproduction.

But some medical professionals warn that it may not benefit everyone.

Experts say one in six South African couples battle to have children naturally.

While the causes can range from impotence to hormone deficiency, the use of lubricants is a significant problem.

US scientists have developed a sperm-friendly lubricant which has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.

The lubricant contains calcium and magnesium which are said to help preserve sperm cells.
