JOHANNESBURG - Stuttafords has closed three of its department stores, leaving it with just six.

The struggling retailer is attempting to avoid liquidation after placing itself in voluntary business rescue in October last year.

It has run a number of promotions in preparation for the closures and to raise money to buy winter stock.

It is not clear yet how many jobs will be lost with the closure of the stores.
