Tourism industry uneasy about Cabinet reshuffle

JOHANNESBURG - The tourism sector says it’s concerned about the impact of the latest Cabinet reshuffle on the industry.

The Tourism Business Council of South Africa is worried existing engagements and programmes may be affected, particularly as both Home Affairs and the Transport Department have new heads but the body has welcomed the appointment of the new Minister of Tourism.

The group believes former deputy minister Tokozile Xasa is familiar with the dynamics and issues facing the sector.

But the TBCSA says its biggest fear is that uncertainty could lead to a credit downgrade.
