eNews Channel Africa's Chief Meteorologist and Head of the Weather Department, Derek van Dam, is best known for reinvigorating weather broadcasting in South Africa. Derek hails from Grand Rapids, in the US state of Michigan. He worked as a weather anchor at NBC. Humanitarian work with The Compassionate Life Foundation is what first brought him to Southern Africa. He fell in love with the region, and in 2008, relocated to South Africa.
