Coffin assault pair granted leave to appeal

JOHANNESBURG – Willem Oosthuizen and Theo Jackson have been granted leave to appeal both their sentence and conviction.

The two forced Victor Mlotshwa into a coffin and threatened to set it alight.

Oosthuizen was sentenced to 11 years in jail and Jackson to 14 years. Last year the high court sitting in Middelburg found them guilty on several charges, including attempted murder.

Shortly after the conviction and sentence, the men petitioned the Supreme Court of Appeal for leave to appeal.
