UAE - The South African government has called on the United Arab Emirates to drop the appeal against Professor Cyril Karabus.

Karabus is expected to appear in court, tomorrow.

He was recently cleared of any wrong doing relating to the death of a three-year old cancer patient.

But prosecutors indicated they would appeal.

Karabus was arrested in August after being tried in absentia.

His case was delayed on several occasions and he spent two months behind bars.

The paediatric specialist has previously expressed the desire to continue his medical profession.
