JOHANNESBURG - Load-shedding will be implemented for the most of the day on Sunday.

Eskom said this is necessary as they need to build up reserves in order to prepare for the week ahead.

The parastatal said Saturday will see no load-shedding for most of the day as there is currently enough electricity generating capacity to meet demand.

There is, however, a possibility that Stage 1 load-shedding might be implemented during the peak period between 5pm and 10pm.

"As we are currently experiencing cold weather conditions across the country as a result of the cold front, we urge electricity users to consider energy efficient ways of keeping warm," said Eskom in a statement.

Stage 1 allows for up to 1,000MW of the national load to be saved, Stage 2 for up to 2,000MW and Stage 3 for up to 4,000MW.
