Glebelands report paints grim picture

DURBAN - Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane has released a damning report into killings and illegal evictions at the Glebelands Hostel in uMlazi.

Mkhewebane found that eThekweni Municipality, police and the KZN government failed to provide a safe environment for Glebelands residents.

The report says police and the municipality's failure to act, constitute improper conduct and maladministration.

It paints a picture of a municipality that's lost control of the hostel, leaving residents at the mercy of warring factions.

Dozens have been displaced or evicted by violence and terror at the hostel.
