The Gupta family says the facts have been misrepresented with regards to revelations that they used the Waterkloof Airforce Base to shuttle wedding guests from India.

In a statement, released earlier this morning, the family says Waterkloof Air Force base was used with full permission of the authorities.

The statement implies foreign dignitaries and ministers are among the wedding guests who landed at the national key point.

This, according to the family, is a "conventional and common practice between countries in receiving officials from another state".

The statement claims Lanseria Airport was not used as it was too small to accommodate the jet used, and that all permissions were applied for by the Indian High Commission, and not the family
