JOHANNESBURG - The latest petrol price increase, of 71 cents a litre, is likely to hit many consumers hard in the pocket.

In December 2016, 93 unleaded petrol on the Reef cost R12.95 a litre. That has jumped to R14.49 a year later.

Diesel costs R12.96 a litre now, up from R11.04 a year ago.
