JOHANNESBURG - Mark Zinde, who is accused of killing his mother -- former SABC board member Hope Zinde -- will remain in prison over the festive season.

His bail was revoked in the Brits magistrate’s court.

He is remanded in custody until his next appearance on 24 January 2017.

Zinde was released on R10,000 bail in September.

On Monday, the state applied for his bail to be revoked.

It follows Zinde's arrest on a different charge in Gauteng last month.

He now faces an assault charge after allegedly attacking his father.

He was sent back to prison after the incident.

His defence lawyer has asked the court to allow his client to undergo psychiatric observation.
