Mining Minister Shabangu tells members of parliament to "shut up"

August 21 – Proceedings at Parliament were marked by several uncomfortable moments on 21 August 2012, when Mining Minister Susan Shabangu told her colleagues to "shut up."

It is unclear who she was addressing, but Shabangu was asked to withdraw the comment immediately.

Political parties were discussing last week's shooting at Lonmin platinum mine in Marikana and its possible causes when the incident occured.
