This after the Israeli army shot dead at least 55 Palestinians and wounded thousands at the Gaza-Israel border on Monday.

The South African Jewish Board of Deputies has slammed the decision to recall the ambassador, saying the move is hypocritical.

The Muslim Judicial Council has welcomed the recall.
