Well-known Afrikaans singer, Steve Hofmeyr, found himself in the hot seat on Tuesday, at the country's first-ever televised Comedy Central roast.
Hofmeyr was subjected to personal jokes and jabs aimed at him by seasoned local comedians, such as Trevor Noah (who hosted the event), David Kau and John Vlismas. On the panel were also a few South African celebrities like controversial columnist Kuli Roberts, model Minki van der Westhuizen and radio DJ Anele Mdoda. In keeping with the show's format, Hofmeyr turned the tables on his roasters by taking shots at their personal lives and careers.
Hofmeyr says he took anger management classes in preparation for the roast.
American television network Comedy Central is a recent addition to DSTV's selection of channels.
The channel launched in 2012 featuring some of South Africa's comedic talent, both old and new.
