BLOEMFONTEIN – Tensions are running high outside the Parys Magistrate’s Court in the Free State, as four farmers face murder charges for killing their alleged attackers.

The farmers are accused of assaulting two men who they suspected had attacked another farmer last week.

The two suspects died from their injuries.

Police outside the court were using barbed wire to separate a group of farmers from protesting ANC and EFF members.

The EFF and the ANC claim that the alleged intruders were farmworkers who had gone to collect their wages when they were assaulted.

Some ANC members are singing "Kill the Boer", while farmers carrying the Vierkleur flag are singing "Die Stem".
