JOHANNESBURG - Police still have no motive for a shooting that occurred in Tembisa, on Gauteng's East Rand, on Wednesday which left three people dead and a fourth wounded.

SAPS spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubela said: "The motive of the shooting is still unknown and no arrests have been made. Investigation are underway and a case of murder and attempted murder had been opened."

Earlier, ER24 said in a statement that three people were killed and another seriously injured Wednesday afternoon, following a shooting incident outside a shop on Second October Street.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics, along with the Provincial Services, arrived on the scene at 13h50 to find a taxi parked outside a small shop.

"The bodies of two men were found lying in the taxi while a third was found lying a few metres away."

Meiring said the patients were assessed and found that they had sustained numerous gunshot wounds and showed no signs of life.

"Unfortunately, nothing could be done for them and they were declared dead."

Meiring said a fourth man was treated and transported by the Provincial Services to a nearby hospital.

"The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations."
