Tokai Manor House still stands

Built in 1795, the Tokai Manor House is a national monument. It's located in the Tokai Forest, much of which has gone up in flames over the past couple of days.

TOKAI - One of Cape Town's historic treasures managed to escape major damage on Tuesday night in the fire raging across the Cape Peninsula.

Built in 1795, the Tokai Manor House is a national monument.

Over the years, the house has served many purposes - a venue for lavish banquets, an asylum, and most recently, the headquarters of the Table Mountain National Park.

It's located in the Tokai Forest, much of which has gone up in flames over the past couple of days.
