JOHANNESBURG - The Human Sciences Research Council has hosted a seminar about food security and nutrition in South Africa.
Titled Futures of Food, the impact of politics on food production was also discussed.
South Africa today is recognised as one of the most food secure countries on the continent of Africa.
This is largely due to the entrepreneurial farmers. The sector is deemed to be one of the most resilient and technologically advanced in the world.
But could land reform and urbanisation threaten this?
Professor Andries du Toit, a director at the Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies at the University of the Western Cape, spoke to eNCA's Joanne Joseph from our Cape Town studio.
