An Angolan court on May 28, 2015 sentenced Rafael Marques de Morais to a six-month suspended jail term for defaming army generals in a book about violence in the country's diamond mining industry.

An Angolan court on May 28, 2015 sentenced Rafael Marques de Morais to a six-month suspended jail term for defaming army generals in a book about violence in the country's diamond mining industry.

JOHANNESBURG - Angolan journalist Rafael Marques de Morais is in South Africa to discuss the issue of governance in his country and in Africa.

De Morais was sentenced to a six-month suspended jail term in May 2015 for defaming army generals in a book about violence in the country&39;s diamond mining industry.

He has also been imprisoned for criticising President Jose Eduardo Dos Santos. 

He is in South Africa at the invitation of research and advocacy organisation Good Governance Africa.
