Thuli Madonsela awarded Forbes Africa 'Person of the Year 2016'

NAIROBI - Former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela was awarded the Forbes Africa Person of the Year (POY) award at a grand ceremony held in Nairobi, Kenya.

The prestigious accolade, awarded to Madonsela on Thursday night, honours excellence in Africa and celebrates “the individual who has had the most influence on events of the year gone by".

She won against South African businessman, Michiel le Roux, founder of Capitec Bank, Tanzanian president John Pombe Magufuli, and Mauritian president Ameenah Gurib.

Her achievement follows on the heels of previous awards in honour of exceptional work done during her tenure as the Public Protector, where she "executed her duties in the name of justice".
