Johannesburg, January 29 - South African researchers say sources in Mali have told them the library housing the priceless Timbuktu manuscripts may not have been burnt down after all. Researcher Mohamed Mathee says, despite reports of Islamic fighters destroying the ancient manuscripts, many of them have been saved by residents and library staff.
