JOHANNESBURG - South Africans have, for months, been warned of a third COVID-19 wave.
However, a new artificial intelligence model from Wits Univesity predicts the risk of a third COVID-19 wave is low.
The Health Department has reported 655 new COVID-19 cases in South Africa on Tuesday.
A total of 34 more deaths takes the death toll to 53,356.
The department says 1,484,356 recoveries were recorded, and 289,797 healthcare workers are vaccinated.
Wits Univesity's Professor Bruce Mellado explains how the newly developed model works in the video above.
