JOHANNESBURG - Don't expect Jacob Zuma to return to jail anytime soon, that’s the word from criminal law expert, William Booth.

The DA, AfriForum and the Helen Suzman Foundation want his medical parole reviewed and set aside.

Booth explained that even if the application is granted, there are many more avenues open to Zuma.

"Parole is governed by the Correctional Services act. My understanding is that people release on parole are in a critical state," Booth said.

"The approach would be parole board's release was incorrect and they didn’t look at the facts. Not sure what medical reports were submitted.

"If the order is he just goes back to serve rest of sentence, then he’d have to do that but can appeal at Supreme Court and or ConCourt. So can still have long process and history shows Zuma’s matters go from one court to other.

"If this goes against him then he’s going to follow further appeal processes he’s entitled to by further appeal by seeking in higher courts."
