JOHANNESBURG - Resources are in place to deal with the third wave of COVID-19 in Gauteng, according to a member of the province's COVID-19 advisory committee, Professor Bruce Mellado.
Mellado says from the numbers that they have, at the moment, it appears that enough resources are in place to handle the third wave, should it pick up.
"So far, if we look at the way the pandemic is evolving, it appears that we should be able to sustain the new wave," says Mellado.
There are also concerns that other provinces are heading for a third wave.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health reported 3,522 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
A total of 167 more deaths have been recorded, taking South Africa's COVID-19 death toll to 55,507.
