Workers were protesting for a minimum salary. Few days before the massacre 10 people were killed, including police and security guards.

RUSTENBURG - As we mark eight years since the Marikana massacre, some families are still trying to come to terms with losing their loved ones.

On 16 August 2012, 34 mineworkers were killed and over 70 others injured when police opened fire.
