JOHANNESBURG - Journalists have been at the receiving end of politicians' anger.

Recently, the EFF attacked investigative journalist Pauli Van Wyk following her articles linking the party to the looting of the now-defunct VBS Mutual Bank.

This week ANC Deputy Secretary-General Jessie Duarte lashed out at eNCA reporter Samkele Maseko.

Kate Skinner from the South African National Editors Forum, Van Wyk and cartoonist Zapiro discuss the relationship between the media and political parties ahead of the polls.

“It is a fraught relationship. I think it's particularly fraught during elections when the stakes are high. Certainly what we've seen is a lot more harassment and problems than we have seen previously. One of the reasons why its worse is online bullying...previously we didn't have that kind of online bullying, social media kind of challenges and problems,” said Skinner.
