JOHANNESBURG - Anglo American Platinum CEO Chris Griffith will step down in April to pursue other career opportunities.
Amplats made the announcement on Monday after posting a surge in annual earnings on higher metal prices.
Griffith has been at the helm for seven years.
The mining giant says earnings per share are nearly two-and-a-half times higher at R70.87, versus R28.93 a year earlier.
Prices for palladium and rhodium, widely used in vehicle exhausts to reduce harmful emissions, have also climbed.
That's as tighter environmental regulations force carmakers to buy more of the precious metal.
