JOHANNESBURG - There has been a notable rebound in business confidence in the country.
Two surveys released show business sentiment is now even higher than it was before the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
The quarterly RMB Business Confidence Index, which surveys leaders across major sectors, is now in positive territory of above 50 points.
And the monthly index by business chamber SACCI shows confidence at a three-year high at 97 points.
The surveys follow better-than-expected GDP figures released this week.
Sacci says an increase in export volumes and high prices for the country’s commodities are largely to thank for the improved sentiment.
But researchers warn the impact of the third wave and persistent electricity blackouts are causing grave uncertainty.
