JOHANNESBURG - Eskom's last-minute requests for diesel funding from government will not be easy to meet.

That is the indication from Treasury.

Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana told Bloomberg last week that there wasn't any money.

Treasury says the budget process requires for necessary oversight and legislative processes to be followed for funding requests similar to that of Eskom's.

The power utility reportedly requires more than R19 billion from Treasury for diesel purchases.

Treasury says discussions around providing funding to Eskom to purchase diesel are ongoing.
