JOHANNESBURG - Maize and sunflower farmers fear that the persistent rain over parts of the country will affect their output this harvesting season.

The industry says it usually experiences such rains in summer.

But this year's wet winter conditions are having a detrimental impact on the quality of their crops.

Sunflower is now being affected by sclerotinia disease.
