Food prices set to increase - Economic Justice and Dignity Group

JOHANNESBURG - The Pietermaritzburg Economic Justice and Dignity Group says it has recorded a rise in the past month.

This increase includes a nearly 3 percent increase in the Household Food Basket.

It is, in addition, warning the worst is yet to come.

It is attributing the hikes to both local and global factors.

Meanwhile, the Agricultural Business Chamber of South Africa says cooking oil prices will remain high for some time.

However, South Africa is not likely to run out of oil.

Indonesia recently banned the export of palm oil, a move that adds to the impact of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
