JOHANNESBURG - One of South Africa's biggest retailers says further alcohol bans will completely cripple the industry.
Retailers are urging the government to ramp up the vaccination programme rather than implement alcohol bands.
Pick n Pay which recently reported its results said it's also been affected by food and transport costs which continue to put pressure on inflation.
The latest figures released by Stats SA show food inflation was at 6.6 percent in September above the headline inflation of 5-percent.
Pick n Pay which lost R1.7-billion due to the recent looting and COVID restrictions say its kept food price rises at bay.
It says it will cut costs in the value change to keep prices low.
