JOHANNESBURG - South Africa’s vehicle manufacturing sector is celebrating another locally produced international brand.
The launch of the ISUZU D-MAX bakkie is part of a R1.2-billion investment announced by Japan’s Isuzu Motors in 2019.
Government says an additional R2.8-billion will be generated in local content production value through the lifecycle of the programme.
The Gqeberha based manufacturing plant will secure about 1,000 direct jobs, and indirectly employ 24,000 people.
President Cyril Ramaphosa says the investment will contribute significantly to community upliftment and the economy.
