Tourism sector urged to use winter season to gear up

JOHANNESBURG - SA Tourism CEO Sisa Ntshona says it will be a while before things get back to normal in the tourism sector.

This despite the announcement that some businesses can reopen under advanced level 3 of the lockdown.

The sector has been hard-hit by COVID-19 regulations.

“The borders are still closed, so its only domestic tourism. We are yet to see the impact of this...domestic leisure is still about to happen,” said Ntshona.

Ntshona said most of the sector is off-peak and the sector needs to use the winter season to gear up.
