Unions plan to intensify strike action against Clover

Unions representing workers at Clover plan to intensify their strike action. This follows yesterday's meeting with Trade and Industry Minister Ebrahim Patel . They want the minister to reverse Clover's merger with Israeli company Milco, which they say is leading to massive pay cuts and job losses. #DStv403

JOHANNESBURG - Unions are planning to intensify their strike action against Clover and Milco over the ongoing job and salary cuts.

That includes occupying factories which the company plans to shut down as part of its restructuring.

Giwusa secretary general John Appolis said, "a special working class movement meeting is being convened on Wednesday 19 January through a webinar to look at a solidarity action to elaborate [on a] further programme of action, calling all working movements for the summit."
