JOHANNESBURG - About R20-million in cash could have been looted from ATMs in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal during the recent unrest.

That's according to the Banking Association after more than 1,400 ATMs were vandalised.

Close to 300 bank branches and Post Office outlets were also damaged

The stolen ATM cash has been defaced with green dye, rendering them unusable as currency.
