JOHANNESBURG - Motorists should brace for a massive fuel hike next month.

Some experts are predicting the petrol price could rise by R2.50.

AA Spokesperson Layton Beard says the longer the war in Ukraine continues, South Africa and the world will continue paying high fuel prices.

"It is in everybody's interest that the Ukraine conflict is solved as soon as possible," Beard said.

"But as long as that is continuing and as long as the SA rand remains weak against US dollar, the current situation that we have is not going to be eased very soon."

Meanwhile, the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) said the fuel levy is easy money for the government, but they must now must relook this stance.

This as calls for an extension to the R1,50 fuel tax slash increase.
