JOHANNESBURG - Finance Minister Tito Mboweni is being urged to deliver a growth inspiring budget on Wednesday.
Unemployment numbers show a record jobless rate between October and December last year.
Stanlib's chief economist Kevin Lings says youth unemployment is a desperate challenge.
"When we break down the youth unemployment problem, it seems to be that the key problem is people getting their first job opportunity," he says.
South Africa's unemployment rate jumped to 32.5 percent in the last quarter. This translates to 7.2 million people who don't have work.
Under the expanded definition of unemployment, which includes people looking for work, 11.1 million people are jobless.
