HARARE – The Zimbabwe government says it has managed to control the economic crisis in the country.
Officials claim it is simply a result of businesses and locals panicking after the introduction of a new two-percent tax on all electronic transactions.
It has resulted in major fuel and cash shortages and basic food items are also in short supply but Zimbabwe’s Deputy Information Minister said the situation is now under control.
The government's comments come as labour union leaders appear in court for attempting to stage protests against the crisis.
