Press Releases achieves top honors of being voted amongst the best TV Channels in Mzansi

The channel ranked second in the 2015 Sunday Times Top Brands TV Service  Provider category. The 17th annual Sunday Times Top Brands survey results were announced at the Maslow Hotel in Sandton on Tuesday, 25 August.
Sunday Times Top Brands celebrates South Africa’s best known and loved brands.  The method used to measure the brands is guided by an assessment of the brand’s penetration in the marketplace while also examining its relative strength amongst its users and its relative attraction amongst non-users. The awards range across a number of product categories and industries including: cellphones, telecommunications, TV service providers and tablets.

The survey comes after the channel programming revamp that saw the introduction of some of the TV industry’s most innovative local productions. The lively prime time line-up included telenovelas, local crime dramas, gritty riveting rural dramas and youthful chat shows brought by some of the most talented players in the industry.   The channel revamp secured great viewer participation, generating a full spectrum of favourable opinions, perspectives and comments across various media platforms.’s sister company OpenView HD, took seventh position in the same Sunday Times Top Brands TV Service Provider category. The platform, which is on the cusp of reaching 200 000 subscribers, continues to grow and is fast entrenching its position in the industry.

This is how the Sunday Times Top Consumer Brands Survey is done:

The total sample for 2015 is 3493, with 2500 interviews in metro SA and 993 interviews in non-metro areas of SA. They talked to adults aged 18 years and the final results were weighted to represent the population according to StatsSA 2014 mid-year population estimates.  The study is representative of all adults across the country and is a relatively large sample in consumer research terms.  Interviews were conducted in home, face to face.
