For more than a year, attention has been focused on the ongoing saga of the toilets constructed without enclosures in Makhaza, Khayelitsha. Residents in Khayalitsha have been caught between a battle of ownership between the ruling party and its opposition.
This week the city got off to a bad start, when what's been described as ANC Youth League members and a suspend ANC councilor dropped off a spread of feces on the steps of the Western Cape Legislature. They're upset about unenclosed toilets in the Khayalitsha area, as part of a saga that goes back to well before 2011. Things took a nastier turn on Tuesday, when people being described as protestors, or activists, threw buckets of the same stuff on cars carrying Helen Zille.
This week Justice Malala will speak to suspended ANC khayelistha Councilor Andile Lili who has been at the centre of the toilet saga since 2011.
