In 2001, a law that requires that a Medical Officer be present for any circumcision was passed by government . However, traditional leaders say  it is an  infringement to their community rights. Circumcision is a traditional rite of passage for many boys in South Africa,  but with so many deaths reported , authorities have long campaigned to stop botched initiation ceremonies. Shouldn’t government  ban these initiation schools ?

This week on The Justice Factor , Justice Malala speaks to the General Secretary of CONTRALESA ( Congress of Traditional Leaders of South Africa)  Setlamorago Thobejane about the recent  deaths of initiates in Mpumalanga that shocked the whole nation.
