Fire guts shacks, leaves 60 homeless

CAPE TOWN - A shack fire left 60 people homeless in Masiphumelele, near Fish Hoek, Cape Town&39;s disaster risk management centre said on Sunday.

Spokesman Wilfred Solomons-Johannes said the fire destroyed 35 shacks on Saturday morning.

No fatalities were reported and 60 people were taken to a place of safety.

"The city provided building material for the victims to rebuild their structures."

The city is investigating the cause of the fire.
