JOHANNESBURG - Former president Jacob Zuma's decision to represent himself in court is an extremely bad idea.

That's the word from Human Rights Lawyer, Richard Spoor.

Spoor has offered to represent the former president for free at his trial next month.

Zuma parted ways with his lawyers ahead of his arms deal linked corruption case which is set to begin on 17 May.

Spoor says everyone deserves a legal defence.
