Israeli historian gives insight into Gaza crisis

JOHANNESBURG - As the Gaza crisis continues, renowned Israeli historian Ilan Pappe has toured South Africa.

He spoke on several campuses around the country. 

The Gaza conflict has sparked heated debate around the world. 

As various accounts of the event competed for attention and legitimacy, the violence became the focus of competing campaigns by those closely involved, as well as onlookers across the world.

Pappe spoke about the troubles facing Israelis and Palestinians when engaging the history which led to current problems.

He indicated that his visit here has symbolic resonance for his work as an activist and historian in Israel.
