Johannesburg - Police have confirmed that Mongezi Phike has been found after he was taken away by men who hijacked his father's car.

JOHANNESBURG - After nearly a week of being missing, five-year-old Mongezi Phike has been reunited with his parents.

Phike was found unharmed, and alone, said police spokeswoman Noxolo Kweza on Monday.

Kweza said she could not reveal the exact details of how the boy was found, as it proved critical to the investigation and an arrest had yet to be made.

She said after being found, Phike was taken to a shelter where his mother met police and identified her child.

He was in his father&39;s car which was hijacked by four armed men in Bronkhorstspruit last Tuesday.

The boy&39;s father was tied up and left for dead, but later found and taken to a hospital in Delmas.

Police have offered a R50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.

Over the weekend, four-year-old Taegrin Morris was killed after his family was hijacked in Reiger Park.

Morris was still strapped to the seatbelt of his car seat when hijackers made off with his mother&39;s car. He was dragged alongside the car and died from his injuries.
