JOHANNESBURG - A young man from Umlazi is leading by example.

At the age of 22, Bright Hlongwane is the CEO of his own media company and serves on several boards.

Hlongwane hopes to make South Africa proud as he prepares to represent the country at the United Nations.

He will deliver a speech at the 2019 United Nations Economic and Social Council Youth Forum in New York.

The speech is expected to be about youth participation in decision making.

"I received the letter from the UN in January. I couldn't believe it but. I was honoured. I'll be the first in my family to go overseas,” ecstatic Hlongwane said.

Hlongwani believes the youth must be at the forefront of decision-making.

"We need more young ministers. Malaysia has a minister who is 26. We need to be part of decisions for our future,” he added.
